Frequently Asked Questions

NOTE: THE BERGERWERKE G519 IS ONLY AVAILABLE TO THE FILM AND MOTION PICTURE INDUSTRY AND MUSEUMS, AND NOT AVAILABLE FOR PRIVATE PURCHASE. TO INQUIRE ABOUT ADDITIONAL INFORMATION AND PRICING, CONTACT BERGERWERKE

Below are a few of the more commom questions that have been asked. If you have additional questions, concerns, or comments that are not covered here, please contact Bergerwerke and we will be happy to answer them.

Q: How much does it cost to ship my bike?
A: Bergerwerke has recently revised shipping process. We now offer free shipping on any BwG519 to anywhere in the continental US. We are proud to now offer this feature, because, as you know, Shipping a bike is a pain and can be time consuming and expensive. Shipping internationally is an entirely different matter. Most countries have customs restriction regarding parcel sizes and weight and so forth and sometimes actually require two separate boxes. And that requires quite a bit of disassembly to do it, too! BW does not give shipping quotes for international delivery. Essentially, whatever it comes out to be, is what you’re expected to pay. Nevertheless, just as a benchmark, shipping to Western Europe is going to be somewhere around $230. Basically, if you want a bike shipped internationally, be prepared to pay!

Q: Why is the G519 so expensive?
A: The BwG519 Premium is the crème-de-le-crème of our G519 reproductions. The workmanship and attention to detail is incredible and it is the best available today. The bike not uses mostly very hard-to-find original NOS components throughout the bike, but has had large frame modifications to make it completely acurate. Since the objective is to make the best of the best and meet standards of supreme authenticity, it requires a lot of money and labor to offer this to you.

Q: Can I customize my G519?
A: Yes! You can customize your BwG519 with custom stenciling in addition to what is already there and request a different color of the paint scheme. (We offer lusterless Olive Drab, Navy deck gray, and USMC field green see customizing page).

Q: How long will it take to get my bike?
A: It’s a long laborious process to put one of these together, especially in dealing with limited vintage parts and NOS inventory. Right now, completion dates are running about 6-8 weeks, possibly longer for the Premium model.

Q: Can I return a bike if I don’t like it?
A: Bergerwerke has a generous return policy-basically, return the bike in the condition it was shipped for a full refund. Just remember to submit a notice of “intent to return” within 5 days of delivery, otherwise returned merchandise will not be accepted. If you are dissatisfied with the Bergerwerke product, send it back for a full refund (minus return shipping.) If it’s a faulty, broken, or degraded component, send the item back to us and BW will repair or replace the item and pay for return shipping both ways.

Q: What does NOS mean?
A: NOS stands  for “New Old Stock,” (or sometimes referred to as “deadstock.”)  It means a part that has been sitting on a shelf somewhere for 60+ years and has never been used or installed.
